Every horse has their own timing

Horses love routine and do not like change or uncertainty.

This is why it is important to have a training program that makes sense to the horse, becomes part of their weekly routine, yet is flexible enough in order to work with the individual horse. Every horse has their own timing with regards to their own training program. They may learn things faster or slower, or have to skip a step or go back a step. It is important to always keep this in mind.

TF Equestrian philosophy of working with the horse starts with groundwork and lunging in a manner that teaches the horse our body and voice commands before we ever get in the saddle. In this way we will never need to force anything as we have already developed a relationship with our horse, and he has become familiar with the basic aids of voice, body language and to a lesser degree the whip.

Next there is a transition period where we pass the aids from the ground to the rider. In this way there is no confusion to the horse as to what our riding aids mean. Most of the hard work has already been done from the ground! You can enjoy a horse that goes forward from a slight click of the tongue and pressure of the leg, and slows with a soothing voice and stilling of our body.

This philosphy of teaching our horses in a stress free way is for every horse, regardless of discipline, age, breed & goals. It is the basic training and foundation that every horse will find enjoyable and easy to understand. Riders of all levels will be able to learn and understand and feel that they are moving forward with the training of their horse.
